A Visit From Mom and Dad

This was taken in the town square.

This is the Mayan Ruin, Santa Rita

We were so happy that John's parents were going to be able to come and stay with us for 3 weeks. When they finally told us the flight date and time, we counted down the days until they were here. We were so excited. We have not seen them for some time.

They arrived by airplane, John and Christopher went to meet them. They got a taxi to the bus stop. Then they caught a bus. They rode the bus all through the the country side. It was an express bus so it didn't stop at all the stops that the regular buses have to. So it was a little shorter bus ride. It was raining so they had to walk in the rain to our house, which is a couple blocks away from the bus terminal. So they were soaking wet when they got to our house.

The first day or 2 was spent just to get them caught up on sleep. After they were all rested up we took them around the town of Corozal, at least as far as our legs would go. We went to the different stores. The grocery stores that are near us. We went to the market, where they sell fruits and vegtables. Mom liked the little restaurnts above the market. We of course took them to the ocean. And there was always a wonderful breeze there. We took them to the Catholic church near us.

One day they took a boat ride to San Pedro Island. They said it was nice. They said San Pedro has lots of people driving golf carts. They had lunch there, and walked all around.

On another day they went to the Mayan Ruin, Santa Rita. It is a small one near here. They said they had a good time. They said they enjoyed it.

We had an enjoyable time walking and talking with eachother. We went for icecream several times. They treated us out for pizza on one evening. It was delishous. We had a nice walk back along the ocean. We got chinese food several times. On another day they went to the restaurant above the market, and on the way they ran into a friend of ours. So they had lunch with her above the market and had good food and good company.

One day we were invited to a pig roast at our friends house. So we all went. They fed us good food. We didn't actually get there when they killed and cut and roasted some of the pig. The 2 youngest daughters asked me if they could fix my hair and do my makeup so I said yes. It was fun. We listened to music and watched a movie and talked. We all had a nice time.

We loved having Mom and Dad with us. I think my favorite part was when we would take our chairs outside in the front yard and just sit and talk and talk. Being with them was so wonderful. And we look forward to having them come back.
